Every thought we think and every word we speak is creating our future. While it is exciting to understand the power we have to create our lives, this can also seem a bit daunting. If we are facing challenges it can be easy to get stuck in negative ways of thinking. If we are creating our future with the very thoughts we hold today, we want to be mindful of the time we spend thinking negative thoughts. As often as possible, we want to be able to choose our thoughts and words carefully with an intention that matches our dreams. Affirmations are a powerful tool to shift us out of those negative thought patterns. The key is to start where we are and reach for thoughts that feel incrementally better until we feel good and truly believe them.

Affirmations

In their purest form, affirmations are positive statements we tell ourselves. Science has proven that when affirmations get deep into our subconscious mind they create lasting change. Positive affirmations have the power to change our lives because they change the way our brains are wired. When we shift away from negative thinking to positive affirmations, we actually create new neural pathways within the brain. As we do this consistently, the pathway becomes easier and more natural to navigate in. As a result, our responses to life begin to change. This is because our thoughts literally create the energetic field in which we live. For example, if we are constantly in a state of wanting we will continue to want. But when we can get into a state of gratitude for what is about to show up in our life, we line up with receiving that which we desire.

Transformation

When we intentionally use affirmations, we begin to tell the subconscious mind a new story. For lasting change, the new story must become more believable and powerful than the old one. To do this we must let go of the limiting beliefs that we may have held onto for a long time. When we first start using affirmations it can feel like we are lying to ourselves. This is just because there is a large gap from the level of thought you are currently holding to the level of vibration within the affirmation. If that is the case, don’t start with the big stuff quite yet. Begin by practicing positive affirmations on things that are less emotionally triggering for you.  This will help you build trust in the process as you learn how powerful our thoughts really are. As you gain confidence in your ability to manifest, you can move on to the bigger desires you hold for your life.

Positive affirmations have a powerful impact on our health and wellness. When used regularly they can decrease stress hormones and blood pressure, normalize blood sugar and balance the nervous system. They even have the power to regulate the heartbeat through creating more peace and calm in our system. The heart is a huge electromagnetic field that can restore balance in the rest of the body.  As we repeat positive affirmations to ourselves, our body and mind are tuning to the frequency of the affirmation. Each time we connect with the words we take the transformation deeper.  Eventually, a new belief will be born. We have the power to choose our thoughts and with practice and repetition eventually our belief systems will be transformed to more positively impact our lives.
